The Opportunity

The Department of Parliamentary Services (DPS) is recruiting for a Parliamentary Service Level 4 Emergency Management Officer within the Security Operations Branch. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the planning, coordination and delivery of emergency preparedness and response activities that support APH. As a key member of the team, youll play an important role in supporting operational emergency management and assisting with exercise coordination and logistics. You will apply sound judgement, manage competing priorities and contribute to decisions that help keep people safe, prepared and informed. You may also be involved in coordinating briefings and supporting resources during incident training activities and providing high-level administrative and stakeholder support across a range of emergency management functions. This role offers variety, purpose and the chance to make a difference in a fast-paced and highly collaborative environment. You will be required to occasionally work outside normal business hours.

Job Specific Requirements

  • The successful applicant will be required to obtain and maintain a Negative Vetting 1 (Confidential/Highly Protected/Secret) security clearance.

Branch: Security Operations Branch

Section: Security Operations Support

Immediate supervisor: Emergency Management Advisor

Under limited/general direction undertake duties in accordance with the agreed standards for the Parliamentary Service Level 4 classification. The duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Assist in maintaining the APH emergency control organisation training compliance and administrative functions.
  • Assist in the planning, coordination and delivery of multi-agency emergency preparedness exercises.
  • Prepare emergency preparedness advice to internal stakeholders, including senior executives.
  • Assist with the preparation of briefs, internal communications, policies & procedures, after-action reviews and other relevant documents in line APH Emergency Management Governance frameworks.
  • Contribute to building the APH security and emergency awareness culture.

Salary

Currently, the salary range for this position is $80,672 - $87,659 per annum.

Conditions of Employment

Employment opportunities at Department of Parliamentary Services are subject to a range of conditions prescribed in the Parliamentary Service Act 1999 which include:

  • Australian citizenship - to be eligible for employment with DPS, applicants must be an Australian Citizen.
  • Security clearance and character clearance - the preferred applicant will be required to obtain and maintain a security clearance at the level specified, as well as complete and be deemed suitable through a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check.
  • Health assessment - a pre-employment health assessment will be required where there are physical or medical requirements for the role.
