About Us

Court Services Victoria provides corporate services and facilities to support the performance of the judicial, quasi-judicial and administrative functions of Victoria's courts and tribunal, Judicial College and Judicial Commission. 

Collectively, Victoria's Supreme, County, Magistrates', Children's, and Coroners courts, the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT), the Judicial College of Victoria, the Judicial Commission of Victoria, and Court Services Victoria (CSV) are referred to as the ‘Courts Group'.

CCV

The County Court of Victoria is established pursuant to the County Court Act 1958. It has original and appellate jurisdiction and is the principal trial court in the State of Victoria. The Court hears over 12,000 criminal, common law, and commercial cases each year. The County Court has unlimited monetary jurisdiction in common law and commercial matters. In its criminal jurisdiction, the Court hears all indictable offences except treason, murder, and related offences.

There are a total of 80 Judges of the Court and over 300 staff, including judicial support staff. The County Court regularly conducts circuit sittings at 12 circuit courts situated in major centres throughout regional Victoria.

About the Role

This role is responsible for providing accurate reports and insights that are used to monitor the Court's activities, workload, performance, evaluations as well as identifying emerging trends and issues.  

You will be responsible for servicing statutory reporting, ad hoc report requests, that turn data into meaningful narratives. This often requires working closely with peers and stakeholders to scope tasks and to ensure deliverables are fit to purpose. You will also be responsible for the provision of secondary level Data Warehouse administration. All team members are expected to champion data quality and data integrity principles to ensure quality and timely outputs. Duties will include:

  • undertaking data extractions, analysis and prepare suitable reports
  • identifying trends within the relevant data sources and datasets
  • preparing a range of statutory and/or set reporting interactions with a range of systems such as CLMS, iManager, MS Excel repositories, data warehouse (backend) and others
  • preparing Power BI dashboards/reports of various complexities to meet the Court's growing needs for self-service reporting
  • undertaking data warehouse administration

About You

The ideal candidate will have high level practical experience in SQL in data warehouse environment and/or ability to quickly acquire expertise in the Court's Case List Management System (CLMS), iManage, and other systems. You will have expert knowledge in the MS Office suite, particularly interacting with large and complex MS Excel files for both data extraction or as responsitory.

You will have:

  • highly developed written communication skills and strong verbal communication to build effective relationships with a diverse range of stakeholde rs
  • proven self-management skills, possessing excellent conceptual and organisational skills
  • demonstrated problem solving skills with the ability to develop contingency plans
  • the ability to champion change management with strong consultation skills

Qualifications

A relevant tertiary qualification in statistics, analytics or IT is highly desirable
