About the role:St Martin's Residential Aged Care Home located in Taigum is seeking multiple casual Support Services Workers within the Kitchen. The purpose of this role is to assist the cook/chef in the preparation and serving of meals for residents. This role is also responsible for the cleaning of designated kitchen utensils and areas, in accordance with the prescribed cleaning schedule. The Support Services Worker (Kitchen) role, in conjunction with other roles in the facility, encourages physical and social independence, supports a safe home-like environment and safeguards the dignity and privacy of residents.

  • Assist with the preparation and serving of meals and mid-meals.
  • Clean food preparation and dining areas.
  • Ensure food safety principles are followed at all times.
  • Advise the cook/chef of any issues relating to food preparation and service.
  • Maintain an understanding of the storage of food and other products related to food preparation.
  • Operate all equipment in line with relevant instructions.
  • Ensure cleaning standards outlined by Anglicare are met at all times.
  • Ensure duties are completed within the expected timeframe.
  • Maintain appropriate professional boundaries as outlined by Anglicare.

About you:

  • Previous experience in the preparation of food and operation of equipment in a residential or commercial environment.
  • Knowledge of Infection Control and Food Handling principles.
  • Good oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of discretion in dealing with sensitive and confidential matters.
  • Demonstrated commitment to providing services to elderly people.
  • Ability to work effectively, respectfully and collegially with a team and also unsupervised.
  • Knowledge of Workplace Health and Safety requirements in particular manual handling.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret written and verbal instructions and policies and procedures.

Role Requirements:

  • Current National Police Check
  • Certificate II in Hospitality (Kitchen Operations) or relevant (desirable)
  • Ability to work a 24/7 rotating roster including working on weekends and public holidays as required.
