What you'll be doing
As a Provisional Fellow in Clinical Trials you will be assigned to the Haematology Clinical Research Unit at St George Hospital for the specified term of 12 months where you will conduct clinical trials under the supervision of the Director of Haematology Clinical Research Unit or delegated trial Principal Investigator. The duties and responsibilities of the position will include the care of inpatient and outpatients recruited to clinical research trials under the supervision of the Haematologists and you will be expected to actively participate in both clinical and laboratory research and be available for duties outside normal working hours if required by the department.
In addition, the Provisional Fellow will provide clinical care to Haematology Clinical Research patients under the supervision of Principal Investigators for 1 clinic per week and support the provision of inpatient care as required. The Fellow will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team in the Clinical Research Unit and will participate in clinical meetings and teachings.

The St George Hospital Cancer Care Centre is one of the busiest Comprehensive Cancer Centres in New South Wales and provides co-located Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology and Haematology services. The St George Hospital Clinical Research Unit conducts clinical research into cancer across a wide range of major tumour streams as well as across the disciplines of Clinical Trials; Pharmacology and Quality Use of Medicines; Safety and Quality; Meta-analysis and Trial Design; Supportive Care; Psychosocial Oncology, Tumour Biology and Medical Education.

St George Hospital Haematology Clinical Trial Unit is one of the largest Haematology Clinical Trial units in the state. It oversees and runs many pharmaceutical sponsored trials as well as investigation list studies. Haematology trainees or fellows interested in broadening their clinical trial experience are encouraged to apply. The position provides experience in understanding the principles and steps involved in running clinical trials including the opportunity and support to develop an investigation-initiated study.
