The RoleKarratha SHS has an exciting opportunity for a leader with demonstrated expertise in Aboriginal education as Program Coordinator of the Follow the Dream Program.
Follow the Dream is a program of the Polly Farmer Foundation (PFF), a not for profit organisation delivering strength-based educational programs in selected schools across Australia. For over 25 years, in partnership with the Department of Education and program sponsors, the PFF's Follow the Dream Program has provided academic and mentoring support to aspiring Indigenous students. The Karratha Follow the Dream program (known locally as the Gumala Mirnuwarni Education Project) was the Foundation's very first program, established in 1997. Since inception, the program has grown throughout Western Australia and beyond, enabling thousands of students to achieve secondary school graduation and successfully transition to post-school training and employment.
The Karratha Follow the Dream Program Coordinator plays a key role in leading and managing the delivery of the program. The role of the Program Coordinator involves identifying students for participation and managing the selection process, case managing each student, including monitoring and supporting their school progress and working closely with classroom teachers and within classrooms to ensure student academic success and general wellbeing, developing individual learning plans with each student, providing subject advise and career guidance and information, arranging extra-curricular enrichment activities, managing the enrichment centre, selecting and supporting the tutors, establishing and working with the local steering committee, and engaging parents, teachers, school staff and other key stakeholders. The successful applicant will be required to show an understanding of the program intent, requirements, and an appreciation of issues regarding Aboriginal education, students, and cultural perspectives.

Teachers and School Administrators employed at Karratha Senior High School in 2025 are eligible to receive a temporary Attraction and Retention Incentive of $4 824 (pa, gross - to be adjusted pro rata for FTE and tenure). Eligible staff will receive a percentage of this payment on commencement at the school, with the remainder paid at the end of the school year. Staff must remain employed in the location until the end of the school year to be eligible to receive the second payment.
The temporary ARI payment is in addition to other incentives that may apply in this school.
