About the Project

Kimberley Mineral Sands Pty Ltd (KMS) is a 50/50 joint venture between Sheffield Resources Limited and YGH Australia Investment Pty Ltd (Yansteel). The Thunderbird Mineral Sands Project (Thunderbird) is located mid-way between Derby and Broome, in the Kimberley region of Western Australia. 

Thunderbird is one of the largest and highest-grade zircon mineral sands deposits in the world and contains valuable heavy minerals including ilmenite, zircon, leucoxene, and rutile, which are extracted and exported via the Port of Broome. 

Our head office is based in Broome, and together we are focused on delivering economic and social benefits for the West Kimberley and its communities. We do this through living our values of Integrity, Accountability, Humility, Co-Creation and Inclusivity. 

The Role:

We are looking for a Manager Processing to oversee our plant operations in the West Kimberley. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer this leadership is responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible operations while driving continuous improvement and achieving production targets. The successful candidate will lead a team overseeing processing, tailings, metallurgy, haulage & logistics and warehouse. We have a strong preference for the preferred candidate to reside in the West Kimberley region. 

West Kimberley Resident Roster:  4-days on : 3-days off (Drive in Drive out)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee plant operations, ensuring adherence to safety, efficiency, and environmental standards.
  • Oversee the processing of mineral sands to meet production targets and ensure product quality.
  • Promote and drive continuous improvement and achieve production targets and operating budgets.
  • Play a key leadership role in a company that values co-creation, humility, accountability, Inclusivity and integrity.

Your Profile:

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in mineral processing or a related field, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Tertiary qualification in Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Proven track record in managing complex operations and leading multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong understanding of environmental regulations and safety standards in the mining industry.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
