About the Camp

Lake Dewar Discovery Camp is an adventure camp located just 60 minutes from Melbourne, and managed by Y Discovery Camps. Nearby to the Werribee River and surrounding gorges, and catering to schools and groups year-round, the team at Lake Dewar Discovery Camp run a variety of programs and activities to suit every group, from stand-up paddle boarding, canoeing and raft building, to a relaxing spot of fishing.

About the Role

As Lead Cook, you will work as a leader within the catering team to ensure all campers receive delicious meals during their stay, and that kitchen assistants are well supported and guided through their day-to-day duties. You will be responsible for:

• Preparing and providing food for campers, including the coordination of special diets
• Assisting in the training, coordination and supervision of kitchen assistants and other employees
• Applying best practice as outlined in the camp's food safety program
• Undertake general cooking duties, including baking and pastry cooking
• Food ordering and stock control
• Upholding the values of the the Y Victoria at all times

This is a casual role with an hourly rate of $36.59 + Super.

Essential Qualifications

• Food Safety Supervisor Certificate

About You

You are a skilled chef with strong interpersonal and leadership skills, which will allow you to build strong and positive relationships with campers, colleagues and other stakeholders. You have previous experience in the hospitality and/or catering industry, particularly in and around staff supervision and/or food purchasing. You will be well-organised, committed to excellent customer service and have the ability to apply best practice as outlined in the camp's Food Safety Plan and to ensure compliance with local government requirements and the Y Victoria policies and procedures.
