Position Summary:

The Estimator (Sales Consultant) is a dual functional role, its main responsible is producing quotes and project tenders for multiple value projects in a timely and efficient manner. Constant monitoring of supplier prices and market research is extremely important to ensure the business can be competitive in diverse consumer markets.

The Estimator (Sales Consultant) is also required to ensure all costing is checked and accurate prior to submission to ensure all tenders are accurate and all consumer requirements are catered for. Database integrity and quote follow ups are also a crucial part of this role.

In reference to the ‘Sales Consultant' aspects of your role you will in short be the face of SGA, interacting with a multitude of clientele, builders, suppliers and other trade professional in the showroom, over the phone & on site. A key component of this role will be generating additional work from current and new customers, attending site to meet job needs & requirements, carrying out site measurements if necessary and/or liaising with Production/Service department to assist with finalising orders.

Duties:

  • Prepares work to be estimated by gathering proposals, plans, specifications, and related documents from customers/builders and coworkers.

  • Identifies labour, material, and time requirements by studying proposals, plans, specifications and related documents.

  • Liaise with all departments regarding ‘lead times' in regards to finalising estimations based on current work load(s).

  • Computes costs by analysing labour, material, and time requirements.

  • Resolves discrepancies by collecting and analysing information, ensuring that any potential ‘issues' are rectified prior to order submission to clients/builders and/or the production department.

  • Presents prepared estimate by assembling and displaying numerical and descriptive information.

  • Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing technical publications. Attend any trade nights and/or internal training (not excluding supplier product training & updates).

  • Maintain & improve all customer/supplier relationships ensuring that any advice/feedback is based on current industry regulations and guidelines.

  • Work independently, but also contribute to team productivity & ensure quotation/estimations are actioned as a priority.

  • Prepares construction budget by studying home plans; updating specifications; identifying and projecting costs.

  • Answer all customer/builder enquiries if a cost comparison is required, pointing out all relevant differences and noting if the other competitor quotation is lacking in any industry prevention/regulations and/or product variations.

  • Evaluates offers to purchase by costing changes, additions, and site requirements.

  • Prepares quote requests from vendors and subcontractors by specifying materials; identifying qualified subcontractors; negotiating pricing.

  • Maintains cost keys and price masters by updating information.

  • Ensure communication is open between other sales staff and/or relevant departments in regards to any information collected, analysed and/or identified when assessing any trends/enquiries within our local area.

  • Maintains quality service by following organization standards.

  • Maintains continuity among corporate, division, and local work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.

  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

  • Liaison with showroom customers and builders.

  • Answering the administration phones and general reception duties, if the administration employee is absent/busy and/or requiring assistance.

  • Be aware of and ensure that you pass on/action any updates/amendments in customer approved discounts/pricing lists. Reach any/all production budgets (in relation to mark ups & profit margins). Pass on any vendor approved price changes/material increases. 

  • Prompt & accurate data entry into SoftTech / VQuote (V6 and/or any future versions of the estimating software)

  • Ensure all quotations are ‘uploaded' to ESP; any comments are recorded in real time for all staff to view. Link all relevant documents relating to quotations/estimations actioned. Use all aspects of the ESP system to ensure any information provided to customers/builders/suppliers and/or other staff is accurate and any relevant action is recorded for future reference.

  • Solid communication skills and customer service skills

  • Ability to work off and understand plans

  • Provide, monitor and/or action corrections

  • Understanding how to work within margins/budgets

  • Strong computer skills - SGA internal systems & Excel in particular

  • 100% accuracy with figures/numbers and/or all data entry.

  • Maintain & submit ‘Sub Contractors Statement' to the accounts department for billing purposes and/or direct to builders requesting said document for the stated of works.

  • Liaise with payroll to ensure all factory ‘new employees' whom will be attending build sites have a valid White Card recorded on all relevant Clodais Pty Ltd (SGA) documentation to ensure SGA complies with state & national regulations.
