We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accounts Officer to join our finance team. This role is integral to maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, ensuring accurate preparation of financial reports. The ideal candidate will have experience in accounting within a fast-paced environment and a strong understanding of financial systems. Knowledge in freight forwarding is highly desirable, as it will help you navigate the unique aspects of our business.

Key Responsibilities:

• Process and manage accounts payable and receivable transactions, ensuring timely payments and collections.
• Assist with monthly and year-end closing processes
• Assist with the preparation of financial statements and management reports
• Prepare accurate financial statements and tax returns for the company in compliance with applicable regulations and accounting standards
• Prepare and lodge BAS, IAS, FBT, Payroll Tax, and ensure timely and accurate submissions
• Act as the primary point of contact for accounting and taxation matters, addressing their queries and concerns, and providing guidance on tax planning and compliance.
• Maintain compliance with all relevant internal controls, policies, procedures, and accounting standards, ensuring that the company adheres to regulatory requirements and internal policies
• Collaborate with internal and external auditors to facilitate the audit process for the company, including the preparation of necessary financial documentation
• Assist the company in generating and interpreting financial reports, offering insights into their financial health and performance
• Ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data in accounting systems, making certain that all financial transactions are recorded correctly
• Assist in the preparation of companys budgets and financial forecasts to help aligning financial objectives with business strategies
• Maintain organized and up-to-date files, including financial statements, tax returns, and relevant correspondence, in line with best practices and regulatory requirements

Qualifications & Skills

• Education: Bachelor of Accounting Degree
• A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in a similar role
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, and accounting software (experience with Expedient or similar software preferred)
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to work with numbers accurately
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with internal teams, customers, and external stakeholders
• Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines
• A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement
