Australian Red Cross Young Parents Program (YPP) works to ensure best outcomes for children and families by improving the capacity of young parents with complex needs aged 13 to 25, to live and parent independently. YPP is designed to meet the needs of pregnant and parenting young women and men who are unable to access elsewhere the safety, security and support required to parent effectively. About the role The Officer - Education is responsible for the coordination, development and delivery of the Education program at Young Parents Program. This entails training staff and volunteers to offer appropriate educational opportunities to young parents, supporting young parents with complex needs and behaviours to develop independent study skills and ensuring best practice delivery of vocational and parent education groups across all YPP sites. What you will bring
  • Use strengths-based practice and trauma informed therapeutic interventions to promote meaningful change and development for young people and their families
  • Support the development of FECS and YPP team through contributing to training and development needs of the program and broader program policies and procedures
  • Act as a vocational consultant and specialist support for the wider YYP team, in particularly, the Family Educators
  • Practical experience in the implementation and coordination of education and life skills programs, particularly with young people with complex needs, challenging behaviours and a history of non-engagement with services
  • Sound analytical skills and demonstrated ability to assess, evaluate and solve problems generally found in policies and practices
Qualifications and Mandatory Requirements
  • Tertiary qualifications or commensurate experience in Education, Parenting Education, Social Work, Youth Work or related discipline
  • Current first aid qualification
  • Working with Children Check
  • Australian Drivers Licence
