It extends from the pristine beaches of the NSW South Coast, the farmlands of the Southern Tablelands, across the picturesque Great Dividing Range and the spectacular Snowy Mountains.

Southern NSWLHD comprises of 2 Networks - Inlands centred around Goulburn, Monaro, Queanbeyan and Cooma, AND Coastal centered around Bega, Batemans Bay and Moruya in the far south-east corner of NSW and the Integrated Care Network. Where youll be working GOULBURN Goulburn Base Hospital is in Southern NSW LHD, approximately 2 hours from Sydney (195 kms) and 1 hour from Canberra (90 kms). Goulburn was established as Australias first inland city in 1863, is located in the Southern Tablelands and has a population of approximately 30,000. It is situated on Gundungurra and Ngunnawal lands. Today, it is a relaxed country town, home to the Big Merino (the worlds largest concrete sheep), the Lieder Theatre Company (Australias oldest theatre company) and the famous Trappers Bakery. The hospital is located in a new Clinical Services Building and has approximately 100 beds. The ED has a Level 4 role delineation and has 2 resuscitation beds, 6 acute beds (including 2 isolation rooms), and a fast-track area. The footprint includes an area for future expansion as a 4 bedded EDSSU. The department is led by FACEMs, FACRRMs and GP VMOs with expertise in Emergency Medicine. A typical day in the ED sees 60-70 undifferentiated patients (adult and paediatric; about 22,000 patients per year), with significant acuity and complexity across a wide range of conditions, including some trauma. The Canberra Hospital is the nearest Tertiary referral centre. Goulburn Base Hospital is the regional referral centre for the Level 3 and Level 2 facilities in the Inland Network of Southern NSW LHD. The ED is well supported by hospital services including a Level 4 ICU with 24/7 on site staffing, Anaesthetics with 24/7 Anaesthetic cover, General Medicine, General Surgery, Orthopaedic Surgery, Paediatrics, Maternity and Rehabilitation Medicine. Mental Health is also situated on the Goulburn Hospital campus, in the Chisholm Ross Centre. The hospital has a close academic and training partnership with the ANU Rural Clinical School, and a newly opened educational and high-fidelity simulation facility is on the Goulburn Hospital campus, which is regularly used for teaching sessions. The hospital is currently accredited for JMO training, ACRRM and RACGP training. Work is underway to expand training into EMET and ACEM programs.

What youll be doing - Primary Purpose The primary purpose of the position is to provide quality care to patients in a complex clinical environment. Medical Officers will work under an appropriate level of supervision according to their level of competence to evaluate, diagnose, treat and provide consultation to patients of all ages presenting in any condition and will work in a variety of inpatient and outpatient settings. In accepting this position you agree to support core NSW public sector values of cultural diversity, equity and ethical practice, and a healthy, safe and fair workplace and by addressing these core values in training courses and the induction process Position Details Your role as the Rehabilitation Registrar will be supported by an intern and two consultants. On most days the consultants are on-site for 6-8 hours. You will be required to do ward rounds, consultations on the other wards, liaise with other treating doctors, and participate in team and family meetings. Support in the hospital includes General Medicine, Orthopaedic, and General Surgical Teams, as well as Radiology, Anaesthetics, and Intensive Care. ACT Health provides Tertiary Support and Consultations. You have the opportunity to attended clinics with the Southern Area Brain Injury Service in Goulburn and under the supervision of our Rehabilitation Physician. You will also have the opportunity to attend specialty clinics with ACT Health including Spinal Injury and Prosthetic Clinics. The Registrar will have the opportunity to attend teaching at the hospital, including medical RMO training, Journal Club, Grand Rounds, and Morbidity and Mortality Meetings. In addition, specific rehabilitation teaching will be provided by the supervisors in the unit. The Registrar will also be given time to attend training provided through ACT Health as well as through the college via distant learning. The role would suit an RMO2 or above either already on the rehabilitation training programme or with an interest in doing rehabilitation or geriatrics. It would also suit a GP Registrar looking to gain experience in rehabilitation, particularly in a regional setting. Part time and flexible hours will be considered for the right candidate. Participation in the weekend after hours roster is expected, but no night shifts

Selection Criteria

  • General registration with AHPRA, RMO year 2 or above.
  • Demonstrated ability to complete rotations as allocated and required.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently within a supervised complex clinical environment utilising excellent clinical skills, judgement and expertise.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within multi-disciplinary teams, including the sharing of appropriate information internally and externally with key persons or services.
  • Demonstrated excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills, with the capacity to vary communication style in line with the understanding of the needs of diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritise workloads and display a flexible approach to meet changing situations in a demanding and unpredictable clinical environment.
  • Demonstrated ongoing commitment to further self-education and professional development.
