We have one of the largest Contaminated Land teams in Sydney and, with a very healthy pipeline for 2025, we are looking to keep growing.

We are seeking an Associate to Principal level Consultant with expertise in contaminated land and groundwater to help us shape the future of environmental consultancy. Were specifically interested in sector expertise in the Oil & Gas sector, Defence, Transport Infrastructure, and Industrial sites.
We offer a hybrid work arrangement, with the opportunity to work from our Sydney office and remotely for ~2 days per week, as desired. Regional project travel may be required with additional days off and time in lieu.
As a leader, you will be responsible for bringing our growth aspirations to life through a sector lead approach to market engagement. You will drive technical excellence, innovation, and client satisfaction within your market sector, while nurturing a culture of development within the team, acting as a senior mentor to staff.
Your work will include the full life cycle of contaminated site assessments across a range of projects including:
- Legacy industrial sites
- Transport infrastructure projects including rail, road and ports
- Property transaction due diligence assessments
- Downstream oil and gas sites
- Defence projects
- Supporting site transition of industrial assets
What youll do
- Challenge the status quo, provide innovative thought leadership to our clients and team members
- Scope and lead projects with a range of complexity and scale
- Conduct technical quality reviews and provide sign-off
- Act as a mentor and coach to help develop the technical capabilities within the team
- Drive market share growth for our contaminated land business within our key sectors
- Personally develop and manage client relationships, and oversee pursuit prioritisation
- Oversee marketing, communications, and client engagement activities that align with growth initiatives, sector strategies and strategic pursuits
- Lead and foster a continually improving safety culture
- Drive collaboration with other technical disciplines with WSP in NSW, Australia and across our global contaminated Land professional network
About you
You will have deep experience in providing technical leadership and strategic advice to clients while leading multiple high profile contaminated sites projects, with significant experience overseeing field programs, with a focus on the Transport & Infrastructure, Industrial, Defence or Oil & Gas sector.
In addition, you bring the following experience and attributes:
- Exceptional understanding of the structure and application of the NSW contaminated land regulatory framework
- Experience in leading subcontractors on multiple sites in both assessment and remediation activities
- Competent in identifying and managing risk on substantial projects
- Experience in managing, tracking and meeting client funding and related targets
- Proven ability in building the client-centricity capability of others and transferring expertise within an organisation
- Experience in developing and implementing major/strategic client relationship plans
- Compelling leadership style with the ability to inspire, motivate, encourage and influence others through a socially impactful style
