The Company
The South Australian Produce Market Limited (SAPML) owns and operates the land which is situated on Burma Road, Pooraka. The Market is the premier fresh produce wholesale market for the state where over 250,000 tonnes of fresh produce with a wholesale value of over $590M is traded between wholesalers, growers and retail operators every year. With an estimated 10,000 individuals accessing the market site each week, market operations are complex, with masses of highly perishable fresh produce passing through each day which is consumed locally, nationally and now internationally.
The Position
SAPML is seeking a casual Market Official / Security Officer to join the Operations Team and support the day-to-day needs of the Market Community while monitoring and encouraging safe work practices on site.
This role has the following key areas of responsibility:
Maintain full working knowledge Operating Articles, Market Rules and Regulations.
Patrol the market square to monitor adherence to WHS policies and Market Rules, and respond to issues identified.
Carry out various compliance audits and inspections including facilities, safety equipment and Market User behaviour.
Administer infringements for breaches of Market Rules.
Utilise reporting software to report incidents, hazards, and complete audits.
Respond to First Aid or other emergency calls.
Management of the front (and rear as required) gatehouse to monitor Market Users entering and exiting the site.
Manage access to site by signing in visitors, assisting visitors by issuing maps, providing directions and issuing PPE.
Maintenance and operations of CCTV system.
Conduct investigations using CCTV footage.
Induct market users, contractors, SAPML staff on site.
Administer permits to contractors.
Utilise systems (Gallagher, Sine and Nx Witness) to execute required tasks.
Keep up to date on crisis response manual training.
Provide assistance to the SAPML Administration team as required.
Skills and Attributes
To be successful in this role, you will require:
A current Security and Investigation Industry licence
A current First Aid qualification
Sound understanding of WHS principles and legislative requirements
Experience working in access control and operating a gatehouse
Ability to act autonomously and proactively
Experience working in emergency response situations
A high level of interpersonal and communication skills, notably the ability to diffuse tense situations
Customer service skills, particular in managing and working among large public crowds
Trustworthy, reliable, and dependable
MS Office skills, Word, Excel, and Outlook
Desirable:
Experience in using surveillance software
Experience working in a tenanted facility
A current high-risk work licence
Casual Hours
The successful applicant can expect 38 hours per week from Monday to Friday starting at 02:00 or 03:00 each morning. Weekend work may be required on occasion.
