About us
Hanwha Defence Australia (HDA) are delivering capability to the Australian Defence Force by uniting the best Australian and South Korean technology and practices.
HDA is now operating from it's $170 million manufacturing facility known as the Hanwha Armoured Vehicle Centre of Excellence (H-ACE), next to Avalon Airport in Geelong, which has brought high technology vehicle manufacturing back to the region.
Under Stage 1, the 32,000 square metre state-of-the-art facility will initially be focused on the production of Hanwha's AS9 Self-Propelled Howitzer (SPH) and AS10 Armoured Ammunition Resupply Vehicle (AARV) under LAND 8116 Phase 1 Protected Mobile Fires program.
Stage 2 design has commenced and will see the facility expanded to fulfill the Australian Army requirement for 129 Redback Infantry Fighting Vehicles (IFVs), under LAND 400 Phase 3.
The plant features a 1,500-metre test track, deep-water test facility, obstacle course and purpose built Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMI / EMC) chamber, one of the most advanced in the region.
Your new role:
We are seeking a Maintenance Technician (Welder / Fabricator) who will contribute to risk management and mitigation, planning and implementation of preventative and corrective maintenance to support vehicle assembly within our H-ACE environment. Our Maintenance Team are responsible for day-to-day operational excellence, maintenance of the critical infrastructure, acting as first responders to requests, and becoming subject matter experts on the vehicle assembly lines.
As an ideal candidate you will have:
Previous experience in a similar role (Defence environment ideal not essential).
Several years of experience as a Mechanical Fitter or Welder Fabricator, ideally in the trades and services or manufacturing industries
Familiarity with operating other fabrication equipment such as lathes, mills, drills, grinders and, saws
Lean manufacturing, 5S and Continuous Improvement knowledge.
Experience driving a safety culture through safe work practices.
Experience with modern quality assurance systems.
Experience interpreting electrical/Mechanical schematic drawings and data packs correctly.
Exposure to CMMS systems. (MEX)
Ability to work effectively and harmoniously in a team environment.
