Uniting is seeking to call a pastoral, prophetic, and organised leader to serve as Hub Chaplain across our Inner West communities.

This placement is based in Lilyfield, providing spiritual and pastoral leadership across:

• Uniting The Marion – Residential Aged Care, Leichhardt

• Uniting Aldersgate – Residential Aged Care, Lilyfield

• Independent Living Units in Leichhardt

• Home and Community Care clients across Sydney Central and East

You will lead a team of four pastoral care staff and join a collaborative group of five Hub Chaplains, reporting directly to the Chaplaincy Lead, Sydney Central.

About the Role

This is a significant leadership placement within Uniting’s Chaplaincy team. As Hub Chaplain, you will:

• Provide compassionate, theologically grounded chaplaincy and pastoral care across multiple sites

• Lead and support a team of pastoral care staff, fostering reflective practice and professional growth

• Shape and oversee spiritual care for residents in Residential Aged Care, Independent Living, and Home and Community Care

• Work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams

• Ensure timely and accurate documentation and reporting

• Contribute a thoughtful gospel-informed voice within an organisational context

You will hold the pastoral heart of the Hub while maintaining the systems, governance, and administrative rigour required in aged care settings.

About You

We are seeking someone who:

• Has a background in chaplaincy, with experience in Residential Aged Care and/or suitable training in Clinical Pastoral Education

• Can lead while remaining deeply present and relational

• Understands that teamwork and accountability are essential to our ministry

• Can work confidently within organisational structures while retaining a prophetic perspective

• Has sound computer and administrative skills

• Is comfortable working across diversity, including LGBTI+, cultural, theological, ecumenical, and interfaith contexts

• Is skilled in conducting Chapel services, including Sacraments, preparing liturgies, and leading memorial services as required

Ordination within the Uniting Church in Australia (or eligibility) will be highly regarded.
