We are seeking an AO5 Contracts Coordinator to join our team.

Employment type: Temporary, Full-Time until 24 December 2027.

Location: Primarily at Cairns; may require work at other TAFE Queensland campuses.

Reports to: Contract Manager.

Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the success of the organisation through modelling the established TAFE Queensland values and the team’s agreed behaviours.
  • Lead and manage the full lifecycle of a broad range of contracts and agreements, ensuring compliance with policy, use of contract management systems for accurate recording keeping, and mitigation of legal and financial risks.
  • Participate in internal audits and reviews of contract management systems and policies, communicate the findings and rectification actions to relevant stakeholders.
  • Maintain the region’s contracts register, providing timely insights and action reports to relevant stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of clear, consistent contract management policies, procedures, processes, work instructions, and guidelines to maximise efficiency and compliance.
  • Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of relevant training legislation, regulations, policies and guidelines and engage collaboratively with key internal and external stakeholders (including state networks) to ensure compliance with TAFE Queensland’s statutory obligations.
  • Perform other duties, projects and tasks as requested.
  • Contribute to the success of transformation and cultural change through promoting and modelling the established values of Showing Initiative, Working Together, Focusing on our Customer and Taking Responsibility.
How You Will Be Assessed (Qualifications)
  • Contract Lifecycle Management and Compliance: Demonstrate strong capability in leading end‑to‑end contract lifecycle activities, including the development, execution, monitoring and review of diverse contracts and agreements. Show proficiency in managing compliance frameworks, minimising risks, and ensuring compliance is consistently met within the VET Quality Framework.
  • Governance and Analytical Thinking: Demonstrate sound judgement and attention to detail in maintaining accurate records, analysing contract data, and identifying trends or risks. Apply governance principles to ensure transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement in contract management practices.
  • Communication and Stakeholder Engagement: Communicate effectively and professionally with a wide range of stakeholders. Demonstrate strengths in negotiating, influencing, written communications, and delivery advice or guidance with clarity and confidence that builds strong productive working relationships.
  • Process Improvements: Demonstrated experience developing and refining operational procedures and workflows to support compliance, service consistency and efficiency.
  • Adaptability and Team Contributions: Display flexibility, responsiveness and initiative in managing competing demands and adapting to change. Show a commitment to continuous improvement and process innovation, contributing to team success, knowledge sharing including supporting succession planning and training.
Highly Desirable Requirements
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (especially Excel and Outlook)
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal
  • High attention to detail and strong organisational skills
  • Diploma of Contract Management or equivalent
  • Certificate IV in Government (procurement / contracting)
