Ward Hospital Medical Officer Sunshine Coast University Private Hospital The Opportunity Exciting opportunities exist for experienced Hospital Medical Officers to join the team at Sunshine Coast University Private Hospital. In this role you will ensure that quality, evidence based and medical care for a wide range of Hospital inpatients. The HMO role is a mix of ward call, medical and surgical admitting and is responsible for running MET calls independently and will provide support to the VMOs. The VMO’s are not always on site at SCUPH so the HMO onsite will be responsible for providing on site assessment and communicating with the VMO as needed. There are three shifts available at SCUPH for ward HMO cover:
Day 1: 0700 – 1900 Monday to Sunday (this shift can be split where required; 0700-1300, 1300-1930) Day 2: 1500- 2100 (This shift is Monday to Saturday only) Night: 1900 – 0700 Monday to Sunday
The ward HMO works independently as the solo doctor providing cover to the four wards for all hours other than 1500-2100 Monday to Friday (there are two ward HMO’s during the D2 hours). The Ward HMO rate is $110/hour plus super. Casual staff receive an additional 25% loading. Permanent staff are entitled to holiday and sick leave. About You The ward HMO role at SCUPH is a registrar or PHO level role rather than a resident job. The successful candidates will be PGY4+ or PGY3 with at least a few months of registrar level experience.
Current general registration with AHPRA is essential Minimum of 3 years’ experience in an acute health care facility as a Medical Officer Effective interpersonal and communication skills Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently as required Experience admitting general medical or subspecialty medical patients
