Court Services Victoria provides corporate services and facilities to support the performance of the judicial, quasi-judicial and administrative functions of Victorias courts and tribunal, Judicial College and Judicial Commission.
Collectively, Victorias Supreme, County, Magistrates, Childrens, and Coroners courts, the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT), the Judicial College of Victoria, the Judicial Commission of Victoria, and Court Services Victoria (CSV) are referred to as the ‘Courts Group.

CCV
The County Court of Victoria is established pursuant to the County Court Act 1958. It has original and appellate jurisdiction and is the principal trial court in the State of Victoria. The Court hears over 12,000 criminal, common law, and commercial cases each year. The County Court has unlimited monetary jurisdiction in common law and commercial matters. In its criminal jurisdiction, the Court hears all indictable offences except treason, murder, and related offences.
There are a total of 80 Judges of the Court and over 300 staff, including judicial support staff. The County Court regularly conducts circuit sittings at 12 circuit courts situated in major centres throughout regional Victoria.
The County Court is committed to continuous improvement in accordance with the International Framework for Court Excellence. The Courts vision is to be a leader in court excellence, delivering the highest standard of justice to the community and inspiring public confidence in the rule of law.
About the Role
There are two fixed term positions available and they are client facing, and therefore on-site roles that will suit candidates who have an interest in the criminal justice system and thrive on working in a fast-paced environment, closely with fellow Registrars to deliver a service to the Courts internal and external stakeholders.
Working closely with other Groups within the Division, Criminal Division Registrars are responsible for:
- Case initiation
- Managing and issuing Criminal Subpoenas
- Processing e-lodgement
- Managing Access to Court Records Requests
- Management of Fine Enforcements
- Passport processing
- Processing Urgent Orders such as entering of bail and abandonment of appeals.
The Registrars make decisions by interpreting and applying relevant policies, legislation, and Rules.
We have 2 x fixed term positions available:
CC0226 - fixed term until 28th November 2025
CC0227 - fixed term for a period of 6mths.
About You
The Criminal Registry Services team assists all court users or visitors to the Registry requiring assistance with a criminal or criminal appeal matter. Often the first point of contact, Criminal Division Registrars resolve enquiries at the Registry counter or via telephone or email so demonstrated interpersonal and stakeholder skills will be beneficial.
Previous work experience in a government legal environment is desirable but not essential
