ABOUT THE ROLE The Commercial team is responsible for identifying and building long-term category growth strategies along with managing the short-term 12 month go-to-market category and shopper plan. We are responsible for being customer and category experts and bringing the voice of the customer into the organization. We achieve this by building plans that realize category growth through the creation and sharing of a common understanding of shopper behaviour and insights. Our aim is to deliver Suntory Oceania (including SGS) and our retail partners a sustainable competitive advantage in-market by establishing our people, brands and business as an insight driven, growth-oriented category and brand partner. The Shopper Activation Manager is an integral part of the commercial team. This role will directly influence and bring to life to life the strategy & vision for Suntory Global Spirits brands. This role is responsible for the strategic development and execution of brand activation opportunities throughout the year, across the full Suntory Global Spirits RTD & FBS portfolio. This role will report into the Group Shopper Activation Manager. This role will partner with the Group Shopper Activation Manager, Sales team and directly with the Customer to develop the long and short term (12 - 18 month) vision for the Suntory Global Spirits portfolio - delivering against identified category growth platforms. This is achieved through the development and execution of best in class, shopper insight driven, go-to-market strategies with the specific aim of delivering against defined business and brand objectives. This role works closely with the Activation team, Customer Category Managers, marketing & insights team, and Suntory Oceania sales team, requiring strong stakeholder management, organizational and communication skills. This role will also attend all relevant customer meetings. Role Responsibilities STRATEGY INPUT- Overall lead on shopper strategy for the customer; input into key planning processes (Annual Marketing Planning, Integrated Activity Planning, finance processes, customer planning & growth planning processes)
- Challenges ways of working, activations and execution to foster a mindset of continuous improvement
- Shopper Activation point of contact for marketing, finance and supply chain to support key processes, related to activation within customer portfolio
- Leadership of the activation customer strategy, driving positive engagement in the process and driving execution excellence
- Excellent customer engagement focusing on collaborative development of executions.
- Externally focused leader who successfully brings the voice of the customer into the organization to educate stakeholders on evolving customer requirements along with evolving brand activation plans - customer centricity & strong trade engagement
- Shares learning & best practice with wider marketing, innovation and Shopper team.
- Collation of customer competitor activity and circulation to wider team on a rolling timeline.
- Translate strategy into the design and development of brand activations for customer portfolio
- Design and co-create point of sale and promotional materials that drive a strong call to action, in line with brand guidelines and category growth drivers
- Deliver on new product development (NPD) activation plans
- Work closely with aligned agencies to deliver appropriate messaging, brand communication and trade activations to shoppers
- Monitor and improve marketing activity process to ensure all activations are delivered on time and within budget
- Budget management via the BI tool - includes monthly budget updates, correct GL management, purchase orders, facilitating vendor payment. Responsible for all customer related budget lines.
- Lead on ROIs on major activations to evaluate and ensure maximum returns and sound use of funds. Ensure learnings inform future activations to improve efficiency - PDCA focus
- Continue to evolve and challenge brand activation investments to drive maximum efficiencies and improvements in the customer.
- Lead and influence internal teams on delivery of the customer activation strategy year on year (marketing, sales, innovation)
- Develop strong relations with Suntory Oceania account team to ensure marketing activations process is running on time and reciprocal inputs are received.
- Work directly with relevant Suntory Oceania teams in the development of brand activation calendars & activation support - attending meetings with sales/category.
- Maintain strong relationship with marketing team to ensure all activations are aligned to brand plans and shopper metrics.
- Develop strong & trusted working relationships with customer contacts
- Able to problem solve issues, influencing stakeholders towards preferred solutions
- Ability to negotiate outcomes with internal or external stakeholders when conflicts arise.
- Escalation point prior to moving to Group Shopper Activation Manager.
- Tertiary qualifications (Commerce/Business discipline preferred) required
- FMCG trade and/or Shopper Marketing management expertise (min 2yrs+) required
- Project management
- Analytical skills (ACN/Aztec) preferred
- Advanced Computer Literacy in Outlook, Word, Excel & PowerPoint
- Project management capability with the ability to work on multiple projects and work towards hard deadlines
- Ability to manage multiple budgets
- Briefing and judging creative development in line with shopper & brand needs
- Ability to influence and persuade constructively
