About the opportunity You might think you already know a lot about Bupa. Youll know we provide health insurance and aged care services across Australia. Youve probably also seen our dental and optical clinics in your local shopping centres and heard about our partnership with Kids Helpline as well. But what you might not realise is that we also provide support to several government departments including delivering health advice to The Department of Veterans Affairs. Our role is to support the Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA) to meet the Nations commitment to care for our veteran and defence service community - personnel who have served Australia in times of war and conflict as well as peacetime. About the role

Due to an increase in demand the team is expanding and now require more doctors to join the team.

We have the current opportunities available and are required to be base in Brisbane, Sydney or Canberra.

  • Permanent - 0.6 - 1 FTE available
  • 12-month Fixed-term contract - 0.6 FTE (flexible on days)
    • Hours of work 0900-1700 or 0930-1730
The Medical Adviser - Health - plays a critical role in ensuring the appropriate use of medical evidence to support veterans and their families access healthcare services within their entitlements In this unique new role, you will assist DVA claims assessors to:
  • Provide medical advice and education.
  • Respond to queries from business areas regarding medical evidence
  • Provide advice to DVA policy areas on medical matters as required.
  • Participate in ongoing education and quality improvement activities as required.
About you Were looking for GPs keen to move into a role without any direct patient contact and comfortable working from a multidisciplinary office in the CBD. Please note: You must be an Australian citizen and be able to attain and maintain a baseline security clearance from the Australian government security and vetting. Were looking for doctors who:
  • Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Works well with both people and details - this role involves interactions with both clinical and non-clinical team members as well as working with lots of legislative frameworks, nuanced processes and compliance activity - so youll need to be great at both
  • Have at least 5 years full time or equivalent part time post-internship experience
  • Have full general and unrestricted registration with AHPRA
  • Be at the heart of it with Bupa
