About the Position
We are looking to welcome a Specialist Domestic and Family Violence Practitioner to provide specialist advice to team members and clients regarding the intersection between DFV and child protection.
This position is based in our Mackay Office. Mackay is a large regional city located on the Whitsunday Coast with numerous spectacular beaches and is within an hours drive of rainforests, Airlie Beach and provides access to the Great Barrier Reef and the gorgeous Whitsunday Islands.
- Full time or part time position.
- Government funded until 30 July 2027 with possible extension.
- Level 5 under the SCHCADS award. Salary range is $97,378 - $101,788 plus super.

Key responsibilities of the role include:
- Support team members to screen for domestic and family violence, where required.
- Complete assessments in conjunction with the lead practitioner at key points throughout a familys engagement with IFS.
- Participate in client case consultations, making recommendations about risk and safety implications as a result of DFV.
- Provide team members and enquirers with advice on safe engagement strategies for families affected by DFV.
About You
- Tertiary degree in a relevant discipline (allied health, social work, human services).
- Safe and Together accredited or a willingness to complete the required modules.
- At least five (5) years working with children and families, with at least 3 years in a domestic and family violence capacity (generalist role, womens service, behaviour change programs, therapeutic interventions).
- Experience and knowledge of domestic and family violence issues including theory, dynamics and the impact on children and families.
Other Requirements
- Eligibility for a Working with Children Check or professional exemption.
- Current drivers licence.
- Legally able work in Australia (proof of eligibility will be requested).
