Your future is Energy Queensland: Energy Queensland, and our operational brands: Energex, Ergon Energy Network, Ergon Retail and Yurika, are at the frontline of progress. As Australias largest government-owned electricity organisation, we serve people and communities across the state and beyond. Here, youll help us deliver reliable energy solutions for our two million customers. Join us as a Business Process Improvement Specialist and amplify your impact. Be part of something new at EQL. Our Business and Process Improvement team is just getting started and eager to embed this newly centralised function into the business - driving efficiency, improving cohesion, and making a real impact. This is your chance to directly support and contribute to something being built from the ground up, gain hands-on experience, and develop your career in Business Process Management (BPM). This is a permanent opportunity based at our Newstead Office in Brisbane. Your opportunity: As a Business Process Improvement Specialist, you play a key part in supporting the delivery of BPM and Continuous Improvement (CI) across EQL. Your role is hands-on, focussed on fostering better collaboration across the business, and guaranteeing processes are not just improved but seamlessly integrated. You work closely with the Business Process Improvement Manager to explore, analyse, and document existing processes, identify inefficiencies, and support teams in implementing smarter, more effective ways of working. You also have a role in championing and building a culture of CI. Bringing curiosity, structure, and consistency to EQLs BPM and CI function, you ensure improvement initiatives are well-documented, organised, and effectively implemented. So, what does your day-to-day look like? You spend your time:
  • Supporting the design and maintenance of the BPM and CI framework, ensuring consistency in tools, templates, and standards.
  • Conducting business process mapping, interrogation, and due diligence to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Monitoring and upholding governance, helping teams stay on track with process changes.
  • Engaging with stakeholders to facilitate business process and improvement initiatives.
  • Undertaking data analysis and performance monitoring to uncover trends and track improvements.
Your role offers cross-functional exposure, leadership growth potential, and hands-on experience with innovation, automation, and change management. You also have some travel opportunities, primarily to support workshop facilitation and project work across our many Queensland locations, with the regularity varying based on project needs. Your remuneration starts from $158k per annum + 14.75% super for a 9-day fortnight, and from $179k per annum + 14.75% super for a 10-day fortnight. Whats on offer? At Energy Queensland, we believe in supporting every aspect of your career and personal life. Heres what you can expect:
  • Flexibility that works: Flexible working arrangements, including up to 50% work-from-home options for applicable roles.
  • Leave for real life: Access to additional health and wellbeing, culture and diversity leave options.
  • Grow as you go: Opportunities to develop professionally through training, leadership programs and full access to LinkedIn Learning.
What youll bring: Youre an experienced business professional with a strong interest in furthering your career in BPM. Ideally, youve worked in large, asset-intensive organisations - whether in utilities, engineering, or another B2B industry that aligns well with EQLs environment. Particularly, you have:
  • While formal BPM and CI certifications arent required, if you hold one - such as Lean Six Sigma or an equivalent certification - its an added advantage. A relevant degree is also beneficial, but not essential.
  • Experience in BPM and CI, including supporting typical process improvement, project management, and delivery activities. This includes hands-on experience in mapping workflows, analysing inefficiencies, and supporting change initiatives.
  • Understanding of BPM software applications that support the capture, analysis, and modelling of business processes.
Your effective stakeholder engagement skills allow you to engage teams, making process improvements easy to understand and adopt. Youre naturally curious and analytical, with a problem-solving mindset - comfortable working in ambiguity and helping create structure where there isnt any. Your strong analytical skills enable you to collect, analyse, and report on data, ensuring process improvements are backed by solid insights. You have great attention to detail and enjoy researching and gathering insights. You have a basic understanding of how technology supports process efficiency, without needing to be an IT expert.
