The Opportunity

We are seeking a highly capable Health & Safety Construction Advisor who thrives on building strong, collaborative relationships with stakeholders and contractors across complex construction environments. This contract role is a site based role in Wellington, NSW. DIDO/FIFO opportunity.

Reporting to the Health and Safety Manager - Construction and Operations, this role is responsible for providing safety advice, reviewing investigations and delivering safety audit services across UWF. You will work closely with internal teams and external contractors to ensure compliance with legal and contractual requirements, while driving a strong, safety-first culture across projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert advice and support to management, employees, and contractors on operational health and safety matters across construction projects
  • Conduct safety system and performance audits of construction contractors in collaboration with project teams
  • Support investigations into safety incidents and contribute to continuous improvement outcomes
  • Monitor and report on safety performance, driving awareness and behaviour uplift across project teams
  • Partner with Project Managers to improve safety systems, processes, and project outcomes
  • Stay up to date with industry best practice and regulatory requirements
  • Lead by example, demonstrating a strong commitment to safety, professionalism, and accountability
  • Champion a high-performance, safety-first culture and challenge the status quo where needed
  • Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with stakeholders and contractors at all levels to influence positive safety outcomes
About You

You are a confident and engaging safety professional who brings strong stakeholder management capability and thrives in a site-based, high-impact environment.

Experience & Knowledge:
  • 5+ years' experience in a similar health and safety construction role
  • Strong experience working with and influencing contractors and diverse stakeholder groups
  • Solid understanding of safety legislation and high-risk construction environments
  • Experience providing safety advice across construction, energy, manufacturing or similar industries
  • Demonstrated experience in auditing and incident investigation
  • Ability to problem solve, make sound decisions, and manage competing priorities
Skills:
  • Outstanding stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills
  • Strong communication and influencing capability across all levels
  • High level of professionalism, integrity, and personal drive
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to meet deadlines in a dynamic environment
  • Excellent interpersonal, liaison, and negotiation skills
Qualifications:
  • Diploma in Work Health & Safety (or equivalent)
  • White Card & valid driver's licence
