About the role

We are seeking a Vertical Transportation Engineer to support OTIS sales teams with high-quality, compliant solutions. The role will support the sales process with compliance expertise, coordinate with external vendors as needed, and oversee the solutions offered by sales to ensure a smooth progression of orders toward certification.

Permanent position in our Sydney CBD office. Reports to the Engineering Compliance Manager.

Key responsibilities

• Support the sales process by providing oversight of proposed solutions and compliance implications.
• Collaborate with the Engineering team to advise on design aspects of solutions when necessary.
• Identify and advise on risk management aspects of solutions that may require attention.
• Align customer requirements with compliance matters and recommend appropriate solutions.
• Prepare and submit technical documentation as required.
• Communicate technical and compliance aspects of solutions to Operations teams, as needed.
• Collaborate with marketing and engineering teams on product solution creation.
• Identify process improvement opportunities within the compliance process and facilitate changes as necessary.
• Contribute new ideas, inventions, and concepts that advance Otis technology and operations.
• Support business growth opportunities across the organization.
• Represent Otis with compliance and code organizations as required.

What you will need to be successful

• Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical, Mechatronics or Electrical, or related qualifications).
• Minimum 3 years’ work experience within construction and/or design, with familiarity with CAD systems, engineering drawings, and documentation.
• Existing Chartered or Registered Professional Engineer certification preferred; candidates meeting criteria and ready to apply for accreditation are welcome.
• Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) modelling is advantageous.
• Proven experience within the lift industry is beneficial.
• Confident decision‑maker with strong problem‑solving and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong ability to simplify the communication of complex technical concepts.
• Proficiency in using technology, including mobile applications and computer‑based reporting systems (Word, Excel, Email, Internet, database management) to analyze data and trends.
• Excellent English language communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Demonstrated ability to balance attention to detail while managing time and customer expectations.
