If successful, you will contribute to the design and delivery of engaging workforce training programs that align with departmental policies and legislative requirements. These programs support school-based staff, including cleaners, gardeners, and Manager Corporate Services roles. While a background in delivering cleaning or gardening workshops is highly desirable, it is not essential.
Training Officers are responsible for delivering induction, refresher, and specialist workshops to school cleaners and gardeners. Induction and refresher training emphasises safe work practices in school settings. Specialist workshops cover areas such as safe equipment use, pest control, tree care, irrigation, line marking, floor maintenance, everyday cleaning techniques, and leadership development.
Our training workshops are delivered across both metropolitan and regional locations, with regular sessions held at Tuart College in the northern metropolitan area and Atwell College in the southern metropolitan area throughout the term. Additional training is also conducted at various host schools throughout the metropolitan region during term breaks. To support regional training delivery, applicants must be willing and able to travel to regional locations for two nights twice per term.
You will work collaboratively with the training team and key stakeholders to ensure learning outcomes align with the skills and knowledge required across the workforce. In addition, you will support the scheduling, coordination, and promotion of training courses, while also performing a range of administrative tasks. These include maintaining training records, managing participant feedback, and tracking attendance.
As a Training Officer, you will contribute to a safe, inclusive, and supportive work environment that promotes equity, diversity, and the achievement of both individual and Directorate goals. You will also be responsible for ensuring compliance with the Department’s policies, procedures, and standards.
