This is a permanent full-time position commencing Term 1, 2026.

The School

Lakeland Senior High School (SHS) is a thriving school community. Extracurricular programs are well supported and after school homework classes are well attended. Staff are highly committed and seek to develop friendly and supportive working relationships with students and each other. Lakeland SHS provides a calm and friendly atmosphere where students are encouraged to succeed and take pride in what they achieve. The school is close to the city and situated near the freeway and Cockburn Central train and bus station. Partner primary schools include Beeliar, Yangebup, Bibra Lake and South Lake, however, a strong contingent of students live outside of the Lakeland SHS boundary having been selected into our endorsed specialist and school developed enrichment programs. The school also operates an endorsed Education Support program, opened in 2023, with brand new facilities to support social emotional and academic progress of students with disabilities.

The Role

The successful applicant should ideally use direct teaching strategies and exhibit effective classroom management skills to create a classroom that is caring, differentiated and responsive to the needs of students. They should have strong interpersonal and communication skills, a commitment to professional learning and a high level of participation in collaborative team planning, essential in working in our dynamic English/Drama Learning Area. Ideally the successful applicant will possess cultural awareness and be focussed on delivering versatile programs that will engage individuals and groups, including those students with complex needs and diagnosed disabilities.

As a member of the English/Drama team, they should display strong curriculum leadership and be passionate about building a love of the Arts/Drama within our school. The ideal applicant should need to be self-motivated, collaborative, and dedicated to fostering positive and respectful relationships with students, staff and the wider school community.
