About the Role
Applications from suitably qualified candidates are invited for a Medical Oncology Fellow position at the Ballarat Regional Integrated Cancer Centre, Grampians Health. This twelve-month position, commencing in February 2026, provides comprehensive clinical and research training under the supportive supervision of a collegial and highly experienced consultant team of five full-time and five visiting medical oncologists.
Skills & Experience
Candidates should possess appropriate qualifications and postgraduate experience in oncology, along with a demonstrated commitment to oncology patient care and research activities. The position will ideally suit candidates who have either fully or partly completed advanced training in medical oncology and hold or will be eligible for specialist registration. Candidates should also possess excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
Key Responsibilities
This position provides opportunities for professional development through attendance at regional, national, and international oncology meetings and conferences, subject to leave approval from the Head of Medical Oncology. The role offers comprehensive clinical exposure to regional cancer care while enabling meaningful research contributions with publication potential.
About Ballarat Regional Integrated Cancer Centre (BRICC)
BRICC is a state-of-the-art regional cancer centre that opened in 2013, offering comprehensive oncology services including outpatient chemotherapy, at-home care, inpatient oncology, radiotherapy with two linear accelerators, and a growing clinical trials unit. The centre is supported by a wide range of allied health services such as oncology nursing, pharmacy, physiotherapy, dietetics, occupational therapy, and social work.
Radiotherapy is delivered on-site through the Ballarat-Austin Radiation Oncology Centre (BAROC), a partnership between Austin Health and Grampians Health Ballarat. BRICC works closely with the Gandarra Palliative Care Facility.
Serving a population of over 350,000 across the Grampians region, BRICC operates within a multidisciplinary framework and provides outreach services to Wimmera, Stawell, and Maryborough. It is part of Grampians Health, which delivers integrated healthcare across western Victoria.
Ballarat Base Hospital, the main referral centre, is currently undergoing major redevelopment to expand and modernise its facilities.
