We are seeking an experienced and culturally responsive Nurse Clinical Specialist (Dual Diagnosis) to join our team based in Nhulunbuy.

This role supports the delivery of collaborative, appropriate, and high-quality clinical care for complex client presentations, with a focus on individuals with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders across the East Arnhem region.

The position provides high-level care coordination, case management, and integrated treatment planning, including comprehensive assessments and evidence-based interventions. The clinician works both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, providing clinical leadership while supporting and mentoring less experienced staff.

You will:

· Delivering advanced clinical assessments and therapeutic interventions for clients with dual diagnosis

· Coordinating and managing complex care plans across community and clinical settings

· Providing crisis intervention in line with the NT Mental Health Act and Volatile Substance Abuse Prevention Act

· Supporting a culturally safe, responsive, and compassionate model of care

· Contributing to service improvement, policy implementation, and quality standards

· Travelling to remote communities across East Arnhem, including via 4WD and light aircraft

· The position requires eligibility for registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and eligibility to be appointed as a Designated Mental Health Practitioner (DMHP).

Regular travel to remote communities is required by 4WD and light aircraft. Applicants must have a manual driver’s licence.

About You

You are an experienced and highly skilled clinician with strong expertise in mental health and alcohol and other drug (AOD) care, particularly in supporting individuals with complex dual diagnosis presentations.

You bring:

· Current (or eligible) registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia

· Advanced clinical knowledge and well-developed decision-making skills in Mental Health and AOD practice

· Demonstrated experience in assessment, care planning, case management, and coordinated service delivery for complex clients

· Strong ability to mentor, support, and guide students, graduates, and multidisciplinary team members

· Experience contributing to policy development, service improvement, and implementing organisational change

· Highly effective communication skills, with the ability to manage sensitive conversations and influence positive outcomes

· A deep understanding of cultural, social, and community factors influencing healthcare in remote and Aboriginal communities

· A collaborative and proactive practitioner who demonstrates professionalism, leadership, and a commitment to continuous learning. Your practice reflects values of safety, responsiveness, and kindness, always ensuring culturally appropriate and person-centred care.

Desirably, you hold (or are working towards) a postgraduate qualification relevant to mental health or AOD specialisation.
