The Royal Flying Doctor Service of Australia (RFDS) is one of the largest and most comprehensive aeromedical organisations in the world. Using the latest in aviation, medical and communications technology, we deliver extensive health care and 24-hour emergency service to those who live in and travel through remote, rural and regional Australia.
We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Mental Health Nurse Practitioner to join our established and comprehensive Mental Health, Alcohol & other Drug and Wellbeing Team. The team is multi-disciplinary and offers clinical care across the stepped mental health care model, from four 'Wellbeing Place' centres and outreaching to over 30 remote clinic locations across Western NSW via 4x4 and light aircraft.
This role will meet the needs of the Mental Health Nurse in Practice (MHNIP) contract awarded to the RFDS by the Western NSW Primary Health Network. This contract has been operating for several years, with the new addition of the Mental Health Nurse Practitioner level of care.
The position will provide a coordinated clinical-care and therapeutic service to clients living with a chronic mental illness in Broken Hill, Dubbo and across Western NSW. MHNIP is a very flexible program, allowing the consumer to receive the services they need where, when and for as long as they need. This is particularly important for people with more severe mental health problems. The role will work with the team and their clients to provide a higher level of clinical assessment, diagnostics and treatment planning ensuring healthcare equity despite geographical remoteness.
The candidates will facilitate a recovery-oriented service in keeping with the current (MHNIP) guidelines. In practice, the roles will deliver a mix of therapy and case management in line with client needs.
This position is available in Broken Hill or Dubbo, and you will join a wonderful and dedicated team of clinical and community engagement / health promotion professionals, peer workers and administrative staff.
