Master Cape Jervis or Penneshaw

Interested in working for an ASX listed successful business? Lead a small but mighty team. Based in Cape Jervis (Mainland) or Penneshaw (Kangaroo Island). We are keen to hear from interested persons wanting a career with Kangaroo Island Sealink in a senior leadership role. This exciting opportunity will support our recently awarded Kangaroo Island Ferry Service contract for the next 25 years. We currently have 2 brand-new boats being built with infrastructure upgrades scheduled for operation across the next 12-18 months. We are introducing more crossings and therefore keen to hear from experienced and qualified Masters. This is an exciting time as we commence preparation for additional services to and from Kangaroo Island.

About The Role

The Master is responsible for the daily efficient operation of the vessel whilst maintaining excellence in safety, reliability, and customer service at all times. The primary function of this role is the safe and efficient operation and navigation of Company vessels. This position requires working as a leader of a small team and needs a high standard of interpersonal and organisational skills, proven safe ship handling and management skills, and strong written and verbal communication abilities. The Master must ensure the vessel maintains compliance with all relevant local and domestic laws, company policies, and is responsible for the implementation and verification of the Safety Management System on board. The Master at times may be required to work outside of normal hours during emergency periods or annual slipping and maintenance requirements. A thorough knowledge of all aspects of the vessel is essential to all aspects of this role. This role works closely with the Marine Maintenance Manager and the Marine Operations Manager.

  • Master <45m NC Certificate of Competency - Essential
  • Experience in Vessel Safety Management - Essential
  • First Aid with CPR – Essential
  • Driver’s licence – Essential
  • MED 1 or higher - Desirable
  • Dangerous Goods - Desirable
