The Department of Education invites qualified teachers to relocate to Western Australia to teach in regional public schools.

Relocation Package (as of March 2026)
- Employer‑sponsored visa with a pathway to permanent residency (subject to eligibility)

- Subsidised housing options for eligible regional schools (subject to availability)
A number of our schools are eligible to receive an Attraction and Retention Incentive in 2025, of up to $8,500 per annum.
Apply to this pool if you:
- Are trained as early childhood, primary, secondary, or education support teachers
- Have a minimum of one year full‑time teaching experience as a qualified teacher gained in the past five years (for applicants requiring sponsorship)
- Meet one of the following
- Are a citizen of one of the nominated countries and require visa sponsorship to work in Western Australian public regional schools as a teacher
- Live in one of the nominated countries and already hold independent working rights to work in Western Australia (and will require relocation support only)
- Live in Australia and are a citizen of one of the nominated countries, and require visa sponsorship to work in Western Australian public schools as a teacher
Eligibility Requirements
International appointments to regional public schools will only be made to teachers who have been placed in the International Recruitment pool.
To teach in a Western Australian public regional school you must have a recognised, completed initial teacher education qualification, such as a Bachelor of Education or equivalent, and a post‑graduate teaching qualification, or an undergraduate degree with a post‑graduate teaching qualification.
To be eligible for registration with the Teacher Registration Board of Western Australia you must hold a satisfactory Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and a Working with Children Check, and meet qualification, English language and fit‑and‑proper requirements.
If your teaching qualification was not completed in Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, Canada, the Republic of Ireland or South Africa, you must demonstrate English language proficiency through an IELTS Academic test with an overall score of at least 7.5, no component score below 7.0, and speaking and listening scores of at least 8.0.
Your Working Rights and How We Can Support You
- Teachers with existing Australian working rights are encouraged to apply; note visa sponsorship is not required in such cases.
- We can provide employer‑sponsored visa sponsorship, such as a Skills in Demand Visa (482) for up to four years, allowing you to live and work in Western Australia in your specified role and location, and providing full working rights for spouse or partner while the visa is valid.
- To be eligible for sponsorship you must have at least one year full‑time teaching experience as a qualified teacher gained in the past five years and meet the eligibility requirements outlined above.
