About the role

As an Infectious Diseases Physician at Eastern Health, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality specialist care across inpatient, outpatient and ambulatory settings. You will provide expert clinical advice and management for patients with infectious diseases, while supporting Eastern Health's Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) and Antimicrobial Stewardship (AMS) programs. This position offers the opportunity to lead and mentor junior medical staff, participate in teaching and research activities, and contribute to quality improvement initiatives across one of Melbourne’s largest public health services.

About you

To be successful in this role you will possess:

  • Current registration as a medical practitioner in the State of Victoria
  • Hold Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) or an equivalent qualification that enables recognition as a Specialist Infectious Diseases Physician
  • Recognised by Medicare as a Specialist in Infectious Disease
  • Available to participate in all Infectious Diseases rosters, including inpatient, ambulatory, AMS, infection prevention and research

Healthcare workers are strongly recommended to follow COVID vaccination recommendations provided in the Australian Immunisation handbook (based on ATAGI advice). Seasonal vaccination against influenza is a mandatory requirement of this role and an offer is conditional on this being up to date prior to employment.

Those that are offered and/or start between January and April do not require an up to date vaccination for Influenza to progress providing they are aware of its requirement later in the year. Those that are offered and/or start between May and December require the up to date Influenza vaccination prior to offer.
