Position overviewAs a trusted advisor and senior member of the University, the Deputy Chief Risk Officer plays a pivotal role in setting and delivering on the strategic direction of the University Risk Office, with a focus on senior engagements to facilitate analysis and advice on strategic, enterprise and third-party risk, fraud and corruption control, and business resilience.
Working in a team of professionals you will help shape mature enterprise systems and practices for risk, assurance and control, providing advice and insight to inform discussions on opportunities and threats aligned to risk appetite. You will collaborate with other professional staff to create an integrated view of the risk and control environment and foster a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration. You will support peers to embed comprehensive and effective assurance and control frameworks and practices within Colleges and Schools.
The PersonCandidates should demonstrate extensive experience in relevant business, risk, or assurance roles within the corporate, commercial, or public sector, strong business acumen, and the ability to work in a small, dynamic team. They should have excellent communication and engagement skills, a hands-on approach, and be comfortable managing outsourced providers and mentoring and developing junior staff.
Graduate qualifications, together with certifications in business, law, risk, assurance, business continuity, audit and compliance will be highly regarded.
The College/DivisionThe Legal, Governance and Risk Division comprises the University Legal Office (ULO), the University Governance Office (UGO) and the University Risk Office (URO), supporting the provision of all legal services, corporate governance and privacy functions, and the University Enterprise Risk Management and assurance functions, including the internal audit program.
The University Risk Office, led by the Chief Risk Officer, provides in-house risk and assurance services to the University and supports the Vice Chancellor, COO, and the Audit, Finance and Risk Committee to understand and manage the risk profile of the University.
