The Role - Business Development Manager (IT Services)

We're looking for a results‑driven Business Development Manager who can open doors, nurture relationships and convert opportunities into long‑term managed‑service agreements. If you flourish at networking events, love translating business pain points into practical IT roadmaps, and are equally comfortable with warm inbound leads and proactive outbound outreach, you'll thrive here.

You'll be the commercial front‑runner for the IT Division, working side‑by‑side with our Service Delivery Manager and Cybersecurity Specialist to craft proposals, present solutions and ensure a smooth handover into delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Pipeline Ownership

  • Source new prospects through outbound calling, email sequencing, social selling and industry events.

  • Qualify inbound website enquiries and referrals.

Client Discovery & Solution Design

  • Lead discovery workshops to understand current IT environment, pain points and growth plans.

  • Scope and price managed IT, cloud migrations, security stacks and project work with our technical team.

Proposal & Deal Management

  • Draft tailored proposals, RFP responses and statements of work.

  • Present business cases to C‑level and non‑technical stakeholders, addressing ROI and risk reduction.

  • Negotiate contracts to closure, meeting revenue and GP targets.

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Align with service delivery on resourcing, timelines and hand‑off to onboarding.

  • Provide clear handovers and remain the “voice of the customer” during the first 90 days.

Networking & Brand Building

  • Represent AWD at Chamber of Commerce events, vendor roadshows and cybersecurity forums.

  • Contribute to thought‑leadership content (blogs, webinars) that generate demand.

Reporting & Forecasting

  • Maintain an accurate pipeline in ZOHO CRM (or similar) and deliver weekly/monthly sales metrics to the Managing Director.

You'll Need

  • 4+ years' success selling MSP, cloud, cybersecurity or related B2B IT solutions to SMEs (10 - 150 seats).

  • Demonstrated track record of meeting or exceeding new‑business and recurring‑revenue targets.

  • Solid understanding of managed services, Microsoft 365, Azure, networking fundamentals and the Australian Essential Eight / ISO 27001 landscape (depth of technical detail not required—just enough to hold a credible conversation).

  • Polished communication, presentation and proposal‑writing skills; able to translate tech jargon into business value.

  • Strong organisational skills—juggling multiple leads without dropping the ball.

  • Comfort collaborating with both local and offshore technical resources.

  • A genuine curiosity for emerging tech and how it can solve real‑world business challenges.
