Border Express has an exciting opportunity for a Business Analytics Supervisor to join our talented team at our Tullamarine branch.
This role is ideal for an experienced supervisor with a strong background in leading analytics teams to deliver high-quality support. It also suits a professional with proven expertise in transforming raw data into intuitive, user-friendly dashboards using Microsoft SQL and the Power BI platform.
The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the organisation's operational and strategic objectives, while driving strategic and transformational decision-making. Responsibilities include:
Leading an analytics team to drive positive business outcomes and overcome reporting challenges.
Collaborating cross-functionally to provide data analysis and stakeholder consultation with internal clients.
Our ideal candidate will be an experienced supervisor with a strong track record in team leadership and possess expertise in data modelling and analytical techniques. They will be able to interpret key findings from company data and leverage insights to support business outcomes. Regular attendance at the Tullamarine office is a requirement for this role.
Duties:
Work closely with senior executives to understand business requirements and develop a deep understanding of business operations and profitability.
Lead the technical design and modelling of SQL-based solutions to support enterprise reporting and analytics.
Integrate multiple data sources to identify trends, analyse issues from various perspectives, and draw sound conclusions to address specific challenges.
Analyse complex problems, evaluate a range of options, and develop accessible, inclusive solutions by translating technical issues into clear, actionable goals.
Manage the day-to-day operations of the Analytics Help Desk.
Recruit and develop high-quality, diverse entry-level analytics talent, fostering capability growth within the team.
Manage and optimise processes for data intake, validation, mining, engineering, modelling, visualisation, and communication deliverables.
Design effective data outputs to communicate results, business impacts, and insights to both internal and external stakeholders.
Validate and support the development and maturity of complex logic and models.
Design and implement technical processes to address business challenges and modernise the analytics architecture.
Skills and Experience:
Capability to communicate and operate effectively with senior executives.
Minimum of 2 years' experience in a business intelligence or analyst role, preferably within a Microsoft environment, along with 2+ years of experience supporting or leading a team. Experience in the transport industry is highly regarded.
Tertiary qualifications in Information Technology, Business, Software Development, Engineering, or a related field are advantageous.
Extensive experience in sourcing, analysing, and manipulating complex datasets, integrating multiple data sources, and building insightful dashboards.
Strong foundational and practical knowledge of SQL/PBI, data modelling principles, and relational database design.
Demonstrated ability to interpret complex information, analyse problems, make sound decisions, and develop effective solutions.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
Strong stakeholder management capabilities, including the ability to document user requirements, manage change, and collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment, influence others, adapt to changing priorities, and gain support for new initiatives.
