This is a permanent part-time (21 hours / week) position based at Uniting Youth Services Hub in West Dubbo (Alfred Street) - flexible work hours Monday – Friday
We’re looking for a committed and community-focused Reconnect Caseworker to work with young people aged 12–18 who are at risk of, or currently experiencing, homelessness. This role is all about building trust, encouraging self-determination, and walking alongside young people and their families as they reconnect with education, training, employment and a sense of safety and belonging.
About the Role
Provide time-limited early intervention casework to young people and their families.
Use trauma-informed, culturally safe, and strengths-based approaches in your work.
Facilitate group programs in schools or in community (e.g. RAGE, Love Bites, Managing the Bull).
Advocate for young people within education and training systems (e.g. return-to-school meetings).
Engage with local schools, services, and communities to ensure wraparound support.
Maintain accurate, professional records and participate in broader interagency networks and community events like Youth Week and Homelessness Week.
You’ll work closely with your Coordinator on intake and referrals, and have a manageable caseload, allowing for meaningful, long-term engagement (up to 6–12 months per young person).
About You
This is an identified Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander position. Applicants must be of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent (Section 14(d), Anti-Discrimination Act 1977).
You will also bring:
Relevant qualifications in Community Services (or similar), and experience working with vulnerable young people and families.
Deep cultural understanding and confidence working with Aboriginal communities.
The ability to listen and respond appropriately to young peoples lived experiences.
Ability and willingness to facilitate group work, case note writing and risk assessment.
Sound judgement, clear boundaries, and a calm, compassionate approach.
A NSW Working with Children Check and a current Driver Licence.
