We are continually looking for enthusiastic and talented people to join our team.
OurPerth WA office is currently seeking a Senior CADD Technician on a permanent, full-time basis. This position would suit someone with design exposure to mine and waste projects.
Key responsibilities and activities include:
- Design and documentation of civil and mining infrastructure projects using AutoCAD Civil 3D, Briscad-Civil Site Design, MUK3D and 12d software.
- Preparation of high-quality design drawings, 3D models, and Bills of Quantities (BoQ) in accordance with company and industry standards.
- Manage and integrate survey, GIS, and design data to produce accurate 3D models and design layouts.
- Ensure adherence to ATCW CADD Standards and Guidelines, Australian Standards, and the company’s Quality Management System.
- Provide technical guidance and supervision to junior CADD and engineering staff, including mentoring in design software and drafting practices.
- Collaborate closely with engineers and multidisciplinary teams to deliver coordinated, high-quality project outputs.
- Undertake accurate, timely and quality presentation of civil engineering documentation including preparation of Bill of Quantities, detailed drawings and design models.
- Review rough sketches, mark‑ups, mock‑ups, drawings, specifications and other engineering data received from engineers to ensure conformance with design criteria and concepts.
- Design embankments, landforms, surfaces and associated structures conforming with the design criteria and set out as provided by the project manager.
- Coordinate and incorporate data into drawings with design criteria.
- Contribute to the innovation and continuous improvement of design and visualisation methods to enhance design efficiency and presentation quality.
- Maintain accurate electronic records and drawings, ensuring consistent version control and data integrity.
- Complete material quantity take‑offs for construction scheduling and costing.
Knowledge, Skill and Experience requirements include:
- Civil Engineering degree preferred, or equivalent qualification in drafting/design with relevant industry experience.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in similar role.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience supervising, mentoring or training junior drafting or design staff and undergrads.
- Proven experience in mining infrastructure design (dams, earthworks, stormwater, roads, landfills, and cover systems).
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and Civil Site Design with additional experience in 12d highly regarded.
- Familiarity with Muk3D, and GIS software (QGIS, Global Mapper).
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with high attention to detail and a commitment to quality outputs.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment.
- Demonstrated understanding of drafting and design standards and documentation requirements in accordance with Australian practice.
- Initiative and enthusiasm for developing innovative approaches to design and visualisation.
- Second language desirable (preferably Spanish).
