Our Dandenong Manufacturing Site has recently won a contract to build the Next Generation Trams for Melbourne, right here in Melbourne. We are now seeking candidates with the relevant skills and experience to support us with building 100 trams over the next couple of years. Valued at approximately €700 million, the contract includes supply of rolling stock and 15-year maintenance making this the biggest tram contract in Australia and in the Southern hemisphere.


We are currently looking for expressions of interest from Trade Assistant. These roles will assist trade employees with various duties on the work stations, with the aim of supporting the production adding to the efficiently of the operations in a safe approach, and abiding by relevant industry standards. No formal qualifications are required to apply, however some experience or exposure to this work will be required.


We have three shifts on offer:

  • 6am to 2:30pm – Day time shift
  • 2pm to 10.30pm – Afternoon shift
  • 10pm to 6:30am – Night Shift


Key Responsibilities:

  • Cut, roll, shape, bend, heat or hammer metal products to fabricate parts or sub-assemblies
  • Use hand tools, power tools and other machines to mark out, cut, shape and join a variety of sheet metal materials
  • Operate brake presses, folding, bending and rolling machines
  • Work as part of the team to assemble sub-assemblies
  • Operate hand and machine tools, welding equipment or computer controlled machines
  • Assemble parts and structures by lining up and joining them by bolting, adhesives or riveting
  • Finish products by cleaning, polishing, filing or bathing them in acid solutions or by applying protective coatings
  • EHS knowledge and exposure
