Health Information Officer

• Department for Health and Wellbeing – Commissioning and Performance – Health Information Governance Unit
• Salary: $84,522 to $94,003 – ASO5 – Full Time / Ongoing appointment

Overview:

The Health Information Officer is accountable to Associate Director Activity Based Management and Funding for the development, implementation and evaluation of polices, standards and best practice guidelines for health record systems by co-ordinating relevant projects and providing expert advice to the department, health care units and external clients, that facilitate and support the achievement of government policy in the area of information management.

The Health Information Officer also provides expert technical advice in the area of clinical classification policy development, provision of expert clinical classification advice, and the coordination, development, provision and evaluation of significant work programs to ensure statewide accurate clinical coded data for:

• Department for Health and Wellbeing central office to develop strategies relating to service improvement, improving health and wellbeing, redistributing resources and improving management.
• Adherence to the South Australia’s Health Care Agreement with the Commonwealth and other statutory requirements.

• Research and statistical requirement.

Criminal History Screening Requirement

• A National Police Certificate (NPC) for employment involving no contact with vulnerable groups is required for this position (general employment)

Immunisation Risk for this position is Category C (minimal patient contact)

SA Health Services are required to implement the Addressing vaccine preventable disease: Occupational assessment, screening and vaccination policy in the workplace.

Special Conditions

• Satisfactory completion of the Health Information Management Association of Australia (HIMMA)
  coding course together with demonstrated competency in ICD-10-AM coding.
• A coding certificate
• Intrastate and Interstate travel may be required.
• A current driver’s license is essential.
• Will consider part-time and flexible work arrangements.
