Mount Owen Glendell Operations (MGO) Mine located in the Upper Hunter Valley of New South Wales, 20 kilometres North of Singleton, contains the Mt Owen and Glendell open cut mines. The integration of these operations enables all sites to use a single coal handling and preparation plant (CHPP) and infrastructure at Mt Owen Mine.

An exciting opportunity exists for a motivated Health and Safety Coordinator in our Health, Safety and Training department at MGO. Reporting to the HST Manager and working a Monday to Friday dayshift roster, you will play a vital role in ensuring the ongoing effectiveness and enhancement of the health and safety management system, providing evidence-based health and safety advice, and driving key safety initiatives. You’ll work closely with department leaders, supervisors, and other stakeholders in a collaborative environment where every team member plays a key role in ensuring the wellbeing of our workforce.

A core focus of this role is the ability to contemporary safety principles coupled with strong technical safety skills. This role provides an excellent opportunity for an experienced and qualified safety professional to advance their mine safety career.

The successful candidate is likely to have:

  • Current experience in a safety role within mining or high-risk environment, preferably with exposure to emergency response coordination
  • Tertiary qualifications in a health or safety discipline
  • Strong understanding and application of WHS and coal mining legislation
  • Effective and engaging communication style and skills, including presentations and written communication
  • Experience working with digital and hardcopy systems (including Microsoft and SaaS applications)
  • A collaborative and team focussed mindset
