Senior Payroll Officer
The Senior Payroll Officer is responsible for managing and coordinating end-to-end payroll processing for Perdaman in compliance with Australian employment laws, enterprise agreements, and internal policies. This role ensures accurate and timely payment to employees, supports audit and compliance functions, and provides expert guidance on payroll-related matters to internal stakeholders.
Job Responsibilities:Process and oversee fortnightly/monthly payroll for a medium to large workforce using [insert payroll
system, e.g. Chris21, Aurion, ADP, Micropay, etc.].
Ensure compliance with the Fair Work Act, relevant Awards, EBAs, and the Superannuation Guarantee
(Administration) Act.
Reconcile payroll accounts and prepare journals for submission to the Finance Department.
Handle payroll adjustments, terminations, redundancy calculations, and leave accruals.
Manage Single Touch Payroll (STP) submissions and End of Financial Year (EOFY) processes,
including payment summaries.
Assist with audits by providing payroll reports and documentation.
Supervise and mentor junior payroll staff (if applicable).
Maintain and update employee payroll records with confidentiality and accuracy.
Liaise with HR and Finance teams on payroll changes, benefits, and employee entitlements.
Respond to employee enquiries regarding payslips, taxation, superannuation, and leave.
Stay up to date with changes to payroll legislation and advise management accordingly.
Payroll tax calculations & lodgement.
FBT Compliance & lodgement.
Internal: Payroll Manager, HR, Finance, Department Managers, Employees.
External: Australian Taxation Office (ATO), Superannuation Funds, Auditors, Payroll Software Vendors.
Minimum 10 years experience in end-to-end payroll processing in Australia.
Demonstrated knowledge of Australian payroll legislation, modern awards, EBAs, and taxation.
Experience with payroll systems (e.g., FBT, Payroll tax, UKG experience will be preferred, but not essential).
High attention to detail and ability to manage sensitive data with confidentiality.
Strong reconciliation and analytical skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a deadline-driven environment.
Certificate IV or Diploma in Payroll, Accounting, or a related field.
Membership with the Australian Payroll Association (APA) or similar.
Experience supervising a small payroll team.
Experience with payroll integrations with HRIS or ERP systems (e.g., UKG).
Based in the Perth CBD area.
Standard business hours.
