Primary objective Assist with the delivery of a prompt and efficient payroll service to client agency employees while developing skills and knowledge with a view to career progression within the Payroll Services environment. Key duties and responsibilities 1. Calculate and process transactions relating to salary and allowance payments and the payment of other employee entitlements, i.e. leave, higher duties, penalties and overtime etc. 2. Provide accurate and timely information to clients when requested. 3. Create electronic personnel records (position and employee data) and accurately input this information into the payroll database. 4. Support the operations of the Payroll teams by assisting with the inputting of data into the computerised payroll system. 5. Exhibit personal accountability, professional integrity and respect for the work environment, the staff you work with and client agency managers and employees, 6. Undertake duties in a courteous, professional and helpful manner, and ensure confidentiality is always maintained. 7. Actively participate in the performance development process and the pursuit of professional development opportunities. Selection criteria Essential 1. Good working knowledge of and demonstrated proficiency in operating a variety of office computer packages, e.g. word processing, databases and records / information management systems. 2. Ability to quickly acquire payroll knowledge though structured and on the job training, and by reading, understanding and applying procedures and employment legislation. 3. A high level of customer focus supported by previous experience providing customer services. 4. Good verbal and written communication skills to enable information to be accurately relayed to clients. 5. Ability to use templates and structured formats to prepare clear written correspondence. 6. Good organisational skills and the ability to meet strict timeframes and deadlines in a busy environment. 7. The personal attributes needed to work effectively as a team member, demonstrate high level of commitment to the workplace and contribute to, and support, a positive team environment and outstanding customer service delivery. 8. Demonstrated work ethic and attitude which emulates DCDD values of being professional, accountable, honest, innovative and respectful. Desirable 1. Previous experience maintaining staff records and undertaking a variety of tasks related to the processing of end-to-end fortnightly payrolls is highly desirable. 2. Basic working knowledge of the relevant computerised HR systems used in the NTPS i.e. PIPS, myHR, BOXI, or the JIRA HR Services portal and / or the HR Ticketing Systems used in payroll is desirable.
