Financial Accountant

Position Summary  

To undertake such accounting tasks to assist and support the Finance Teams day to day operations under the direction of the Finance Manager. This role will assist in the timely and accurate assistance in financial reports for the company and the other companies within the Community Services Group (CSG).  

Reporting Relationships  

Financial Accountant will report and be accountable to the Finance Manager. Graduate Accountant will report to this role.  

Core Duties

In your daily role, you can expect to: 

  • Process all transactions associated therewith in accordance with the Groups capitalisation and depreciation policies.  

  • Prepare month-end reconciliations for all balance sheet items for each company including preparing journal entries for prepayments, accruals, income in advance and other balance sheet items as required with 100% accuracy.  

  • Prepare monthly and quarterly financial statements to be reviewed by the Senior Leadership team/CEOs and the Finance and Audit committee, including writing comments if needed in the reports for variances over threshold percentage.  

  • Together with the Finance Manager, attend all meetings with the CEOs and their Senior leadership teams in reviewing the prepared Financial Reports, monthly and quarterly.  

  • Monitor and follow up with comments from members of the Finance and Audit committee in the financial reports prior to and after every committee meeting.  

  • Undertake a preliminary review of financial results to identify discrepancies and unusual transactions.  

  • Prepare the end of financial year reconciliations for all companies services are provided to.  

  • Take a leading role in the financial year audit, liaising with the external auditors for the tasks required by Finance and the CSG companies to complete for a successful and timely year end audit.  

  • Maintain the integrity and accuracy of the NAV Accounting System, liaising with the TaSI team as required.  

  • Prepare and lodge the monthly IAS and quarterly BAS returns.  

  • Contribute to the development of tools and resources, systemisation and policies & procedures for the business.  

  • Assist and support the Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Payroll officers as required.  

  • Any other reasonable tasks as requested by the positions manager.

Were seeking a motivated and proactive Financial Accountant who: 

  • Have completed or be in the process of completing relevant diploma or tertiary qualifications in accounting or finance or have substantial years of relevant experience and specialised knowledge and skills sufficient to perform the role

  • Demonstrated significant knowledge and experience relevant to the role

  • Strong attention to detail and numeracy skills

  • Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office suite

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Well-developed independent work skills and creative problem-solving skills

  • Understanding of accounting principles and financial regulations

  • Experience in the provision of support in a similar environment

  • Stakeholder engagement and facilitation experience
