About the role The purpose of this role is to deliver high level cultural advice and professional and culturally specific support to First Nations peoples accessing the mental health an alcohol and other drugs services, including their family, carers, and social/cultural support networks. The aim of the role is to achieve improved mental health outcomes for First Nations peoples accessing the mental health service, as per the objectives of the West Moreton Health First Nations Health Equity Strategy 2022 - 2025. About you Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following: High level interpersonal, communication, consultation and negotiation skills and ability to develop effective partnerships within the Health Service and external stakeholders. Cultural lived experience and understanding of the cultural factors and histories that affect the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people today. Ability to provide effective cultural support to First Nations peoples accessing community mental health and alcohol and other drugs services. Ability to support multidisciplinary teams to improve their understanding of the Social, Emotional and Well-Being needs of First Nations consumers. Appropriate clinical skills for the delivery of evidence-based health assessments, health promotion, education and illness prevention activities and primary health care services to First Nations peoples. Mandatory Requirements: Successfully completed Certificate IV in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care, Certificate IV in Mental Health or Certificate IV in Alcohol and Other Drugs and/or Diploma of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care, Diploma of Mental Health or a Diploma of Alcohol and Drugs. Under s25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 (Qld) it is a genuine occupational requirement for the incumbent to be Indigenous to the Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Community.
