The BUSY School is part of The BUSY Group, a not-for-profit organisation presenting over 47 years as a community partner providing employment services, vocational education and training, apprenticeships, mentoring, Inclusive Employment Support, and allied health services.
The BUSY School is an independent Special Assistance School with 10 campuses across Queensland and New Zealand, providing an alternative program for Year 11 and 12 students who are disengaged or at risk of disengaging from education. Our program has expanded to include The BUSY School Online (TBSO) offering flexible access to our program for all students across Queensland.
Each campus provides a supportive and safe learning environment for young people by providing them with an education program that includes vocational education and training (VET), work experience and opportunities for school-based apprenticeships and traineeships. Our team support the students to gain employability and transferability skills to increases their sense of wellbeing, resilience, belonging, academic achievement, career exploration and employment outcomes.
Our teams’ focus is centred at re-engaging our students to learn, remain eligible for a Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE) and gain employment or further training outcomes upon student’s graduation from Year 12.
Job Description
About the position...
The primary purpose of the Work Readiness Officer is to support students to gain practical work readiness skills to be successful in work experience, work placement and prospective school-based apprenticeship or traineeship opportunities.
The role is proactive in planning and delivering work readiness programs and using a case management approach to understanding individual student vocational training and education pathways and seeking industry-based opportunities.
This role is permanent full time due to commence as soon as possible.

Desired Skills and Experience
About you...
- The successful applicant will have experience delivering engaging programs to groups of students (adult or senor high school)
- A demonstrated ability to successfully engage young people in relevant and dynamic learning
- Proven ability to develop cooperative working relationships and work as part of a team with broad range of internal and external stakeholders, in industry, vocational education and training and the school community to ensure outcomes for students are achieved.
- RTO experience and a TAFE qualification will be highly regarded
- Ability to obtain a Blue Card and National Police Check with no outcomes
