Tamworth Rural Referral Hospital is seeking passionate Unaccredited Trainees to join our Paediatric Department in 2026!
HNELHD facilitates a WBA program and was the first LHD to deliver the WBA and now has more than 15 years' experience. The HNELHD WBA runs over 6 months is one of the largest in Australia and is based in Newcastle with a regional hub in Tamworth.
Job share/ fractional appointments will be considered

You will be supporting 4FTE Paediatric Consultants with 2FTE Accredited Trainees an additional 2FTE Unaccredited Trainees and 2FTE Resident Medical Officers.
We are a hub for the AMC approved Work Based Assessment (WBA) program and our current waitlist for placement is less than 12 months.
Where you'll be working
Our Paediatric Unit boasts 16 beds and we are a level 4 paediatrics and level 3 neonates unit with dedicated adolescent and palliative care spaces, 8-bed special care nursery and a 6-bed paediatric unit within the emergency department. We encourage collaboration and collegiate relationships across multi-disciplinary teams ensuring the best service delivery. The ED sees 42,000 presentations per annum (31% paediatric), 800 paediatric admissions and 1200 births, there is plenty of scope to broaden your paediatric horizons.

What you'll be doing
The primary purpose of the position is to provide quality paediatric care to patients in a complex clinical environment. Unaccredited trainees will work under an appropriate level of supervision according to their level of competence to evaluate, diagnose, treat and provide consultation to paediatric patients in general and subspecialty paediatric areas, neonatal intensive care and paediatric emergency, whilst undertaking learning experiences in terms of leadership and management in order to prepare the medical officer for a future career in Paediatrics, Emergency Medicine or General Practice. Unaccredited Trainees in Paediatrics will work in a variety of inpatient and outpatient settings including inpatient ward care and outpatient clinics.
