Champion Bay Senior High School (CBSHS) are seeking to appoint a passionate and innovative Teacher to join their friendly teams in Mathematics and Physical Education in 2026.

The Location and CommunityThe City of Greater Geraldton (CGG) is one of 9 regions of WA and has much to offer in terms of sport, culture and tourism. With a population of approximately 40,000, the CGG covers an area of approximately 472,000 square kilometres and includes the towns of Mullewa and Walkaway. The RoleThe successful applicant will ideally be effective in engaging and motivating students through creating an innovative learning environment in both the Health and Physical Education (HPE) and Mathematics Learning Areas. We are seeking someone who is responsive to change and is willing to support an inclusive education catering for a variety of learning styles. The proportion of teaching within each Learning Area will be determined in consultation with the successful applicant.
Ideally, you will possess excellent interpersonal skills and work closely with students, staff and the community to achieve positive educational outcomes for all students. With a capacity to work as part of a dedicated team to develop, review and deliver relevant curriculum across all levels from Year 7 to 12, the successful applicant will ideally be self-reflective, have strong teaching and classroom management skills and a proven capacity to foster and develop positive relationships with students.
Your application should display that you have a sound understanding of the developmental needs of students at all phases of the current West Australian Mathematics Curriculum and are skilled at differentiating the curriculum to meet the academic needs of students. Additionally, past experience in the provision of safe, engaging and academically rigorous lessons within the HPE Learning Area should be included in your application.
At CBSHS we are committed to improving the numeracy and literacy skills of our students in lower school to support their achievement across the Year 7 to 10 curriculum to provide a solid platform for their success in Senior School courses. An understanding of data analysis to further support evidence-based planning would be beneficial for National Assessment Program - Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) and Online Literacy and Numeracy Assessment (OLNA) interventions.
CBSHS recognises that students have different interests and abilities, we cater to the diversity of student needs by providing relevant and engaging programs across several contexts. In HPE a broad curriculum is offered which includes several specialist electives in Years 9 and 10 as well as General, and Vocational Education and Training (VET) pathways in Senior School. Applicants who possess a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE 40116) as well as relevant Certificate II training would be highly regarded.

Teachers and school administrators employed at Champion Bay Senior High School in 2026 are eligible to receive a temporary Attraction and Retention Incentive of $2 000 (pa, gross - to be adjusted pro rata for FTE and tenure). Eligible staff will receive a percentage of this payment on commencement at the school, with the remainder paid at the end of the school year. Staff must remain employed in the location until the end of the school year to be eligible to receive the second payment.
The temporary ARI payment is in addition to other incentives that may apply in this school.

Mobility appointments for permanent metropolitan and south west teachersEligible permanent teachers who hold a substantive teaching position in a North or South Education Region school, or a South West Education Region school* may elect to undertake this role as a 3-year mobility appointment, with a right of return to their substantive position. At the cessation of the 3-year mobility appointment, teachers can elect to return to their substantive role, or transfer permanently into this school.
