This is a permanent full-time position commencing Term 1, 2026. Merredin College is a lighthouse rural school providing a high-quality educational program for approximately 600 students from Kindergarten to Year 12. Our students live in the Merredin township, travel from nearby towns, and reside at Merredin Residential College. The broader community is positively involved and invested in our school.

Our school caters for a broad range of students, including students with disabilities, providing a range of targeted interventions, and varied educational pathways to engage and grow our students. Each year we have students achieving Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) scores above 90, completion of higher-level certificates, apprenticeships, traineeships and employment.

Merredin College is located 256 kilometres east of Perth in the Central Wheatbelt. Positioned on the trainline, the Prospector connects all towns between Perth and Kalgoorlie-Boulder providing convenient travel across the Wheatbelt and Goldfields. There are numerous opportunities for day trips with places such as Wave Rock and Kulin Aquatic Centre and Slide close by. Merredin is located on the Goldfields Heritage Trail providing the avid bushwalker or camper with many opportunities to explore our wonderful country. The Role

This position is for an English Teacher to teach across the secondary years. As the successful applicant, you will ideally be organised, approachable and work well in a team environment.

Mobility appointments for permanent metropolitan and south west teachers

Eligible permanent teachers who hold a substantive teaching position in a North or South Education Region school, or a South West Education Region school* may elect to undertake this role as a 3-year mobility appointment, with a right of return to their substantive position. At the cessation of the 3-year mobility appointment, teachers can elect to return to their substantive role, or transfer permanently into this school.
