About the Role
Reporting to the Senior Manager - Underwriting, this role is key to supporting the delivery of financial objectives for commercial products across Hollard. Working with stakeholders across Hollard the role will be responsible for the establishment, management and monitoring of the risk appetite through appropriate design and reporting.
Key Responsibilities include (but not limited to):
Achieving planned underwriting results for new and existing business.
Design, review and monitor the strategic positioning of the underwriting risk appetite.
Develop and maintain underwriting guidelines, rules and operational underwriting procedures.
Monitor risk profiles and the changes to risk profiles within products, including risk accumulation and concentration.
Work with functional teams and partners to see underwriting rules and features implemented effectively withing policy management systems.
Provide insights, feedback on reinsurance programmes and ensure all policies, processes and procedures have been updated to reflect appropriate reinsurance treaties.
Provide advice on difficult and complex underwriting issues.
Provide appropriate sign off on underwriting referrals within delegated underwriting authority.
About You
At least 10 years insurance industry experience in Commercial underwriting or underwriting management portfolio management.
Personal loans in insurance exposure will be highly regarded
Must have General Insurance experience
A minimum of 5 years in a people management/leadership role or similar.
Strong knowledge of underwriting major risks across commercial products.
Experience in the development of effective underwriting policies, procedures, and controls to practically enable frontline teams.
