About the role

The Senior Community Corrections Officer (SCCO) reports to the Team Leader and operates as part of the Branch case management team with responsibility for case management of offenders or defendants (in accordance with Orders and appropriate standards) who present a greater degree of complexity and/or potential harm to the safety of the community.  

Working as a SCCO you will be involved in:

  • Providing assessments and managing offenders or defendants who present a greater degree of complexity and/or potential harm to the safety of the community as required.
  • Providing written and verbal advice on bail, sentencing, releasing authorities and external agencies.
  • Undertaking screening and assessment of offenders to determine risk and developing viable intervention plans.
  • Using culturally appropriate work practices when working with Aboriginal people and other cultural groups.
  • Working collaboratively and liaising with other agencies, divisions and stakeholders and communities in relation to allocated offenders subject to the High Risk Serious Offenders Act 2020.
  • Under the direction of the Team Leader, allocating, reviewing and endorsing reports, cases, associated activities, monitoring standards of work produced and recommending remedial action.

Eligibility

Permanent positions - To be eligible for appointment to permanent positions in the West Australian Public Sector you must be an Australian citizen or have permanent resident status in Australia.

Special conditions - Applicates must possess a current C Class Driver's License and have the ability to drive a 4WD motor vehicle.
